St. Patty’s Day in Dublin…Ohio, That Is
March 17, 2010
Last week I went home to Ohio for a few days over my Spring Break. On Saturday, my mom and I drove to Dublin, Ohio (outside of Columbus) for their annual St. Patrick’s Parade. Unfortunately, it was a typical Ohio day in March – gray, rainy, and cold. Because of the weather, I doubt the expected 20,000 spectators showed up. There was quite a crowd though, and an enthusiastic one at that. I had a blast watching the kids fill their bags with candy that the parade participants passed out.
One of my favorite parts of the parade was the Camp Chase Fifes & Drums, a recreated Civil War Union Army regimental fife and drum corps (top photo). It was quite a surprise to see Civil War soldiers strolling down the street at the end of the parade. The music they played was really fun as well.
Another part of the parade that I enjoyed were the clowns from the Aladdin Shrine Clowns in Columbus, Ohio. These clowns had the perfect amount of silliness and fun – you couldn’t help but smile when they passed by.
Despite the weather, I had a blast photographing the parade last Saturday. I’ll post a few more photos from the event in the next few days, so stay tuned!
